The Advisory Side Should Look Like Us

The Advisory Side Should Look Like Us

Nicole Ari Parker’s Milken Institute panel on the feminization of wealth wasn’t only about women controlling more assets than ever before. It was about who’s in the room helping them manage it.

“In terms of the feminization of wealth, I think the advisory side should be more diverse as well,” she said. It’s a simple sentence carrying a real gap: as more women, and more women of color, come into wealth through inheritance, business ownership, or their own careers, the financial advisory industry meant to guide them still doesn’t reflect who they are.

That gap isn’t abstract. It shows up as women who build real wealth and then have no one in the room who understands their actual life, their family structure, their community obligations, their goals. Representation on the advisory side isn’t a diversity checkbox. It’s the difference between advice that fits a life and advice that was built for someone else’s.

This is exactly why LIFT ALL treats financial literacy and access to capital as two sides of the same door. It’s not enough to teach the next generation how money works. The people sitting across the table from them, managing it, advising it, growing it, need to look like them too.
