This week on Tuesdays with Junior, we’re seeing the full spectrum of a pro-prospect’s life: Junior pulling double duty, finishing critical schoolwork while pushing his physical limits through what he describes as “painful” cardio and fitness sessions. It’s easy to watch a cross-court winner and forget the hours of sprinting and recovery that made it possible. Junior isn’t just training his swing. That endurance paid off this past Sunday. Junior helped lead his club team to a 4-2 victory, competing in both singles and doubles. But there’s no resting on a win at Mouratoglou. The surface changes next week. And on clay, everything changes.
Moving Back to the Dirt
Junior is officially returning to the clay courts, and clay represents a completely different game: longer rallies, tactical sliding, a grinding physical toll that demands specialized equipment. Clay-specific outsoles, higher-tension string jobs, more frequent physiotherapy: the gear list shifts with the surface.
