Sidney Jones started tennis at eight years old in Los Angeles. “After the first lesson, that was it, never looked back.” She’s spent a gap year grinding the D1 recruiting circuit, and the real story of her LOVE ALL scholarship year is what happened in her head, not just her game.
“I stayed extremely calm throughout the whole match. I know that I’ve been working a lot on the mental aspect of my game. I’m really happy to see the progress that I’ve made, especially not only with my physical game, but with my mental game.”
Sidney is also a painter, working on 6×5 foot canvases over two to three months at a time. “That’s kind of like my second life other than tennis.” She is the full person the LOVE ALL scholarship is meant to produce: an athlete serious enough to train before sunrise, with an inner life deep enough to know that’s not the whole picture.
