Girls Rule the Court. Now they get to prove it.
KFF and Girls Rule the Court are at the Citi Open — elite courts, elite audiences, and the girls who are next in line to be on them.
Overview
Girls Rule the Court is a free tennis and mentorship program run by the USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation for girls ages 7 to 13, pairing an hour of tennis instruction with an hour of Social Emotional Learning across four Mid-Atlantic sites: Baltimore, Loudoun County, Charlottesville, and Louisa, Virginia.
The program runs across three curriculum tracks — Green, Blue, and Purple — with every racquet, ball, net, and workbook provided at no cost. It's built as architecture for confident, resilient leaders of tomorrow, not a one-off clinic.
Six GRTC participants have already walked professional players onto stadium court at the ATP Citi Open in Washington, DC — a real moment, not a metaphor. Citi Open 2026 is where KFF and GRTC take that moment public for the first time.
Schedule
Late July 2026, Washington DC — two independent vault sources now agree on this window (GRTC's own live page copy, and the original partner-profile campaign readiness notes). Exact days are still unconfirmed: the earlier campaign brief guessed Jul 14–Aug 3 specifically, which hasn't been verified against a real Citi Open schedule. Confirm exact dates with Beth Twomey before publishing.
- Week 1 (pre-Open): building context — who GRTC is and why this moment matters
- Week 2 (opening week): on the ground at the Citi Open — real-time content
- Week 3 (tournament): stories from the courts and the girls
- Week 4 (post-event): impact report and what comes next
Fundraising Goal
No dollar target has been confirmed for this campaign. Do not publish a number until Beth Twomey / Cathie confirm one.
Impact
- Nearly 2,000 girls served across the Mid-Atlantic since the program launched in 2022
- 4 active program sites: Baltimore, Loudoun County, Charlottesville, Louisa, VA
- Charity Navigator Encompass rating, Candid/GuideStar transparency seal, and a 2023 CARE Award
- A new Financial Literacy pillar is launching in the middle school expansion — economic sovereignty as a named track, not just tennis and SEL
Be part of their first stadium moment.
